Hvorfor denne variant
Vælg den, hvis
Balances your priorities with a 1861€ price tag and a 33W idle draw.
Hvad den ofrer
- Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.
Hvordan delene blev valgt
- AMD Ryzen 5 5500: 6 cores / 12 threads covers the 6 cores needed with headroom.
- Motherboard AMD B550 (AM4): matches the CPU socket and case size.
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 — meets the 24GB the workload requires.
Hvorfor ikke de andre
- Smart build — best all-round beats "Long-term build — expandable & future-proof" on performance -30, value +8, expandability +12, longevity -12 — that is why it is recommended for your priorities.

Fremtidssikkerhedsscore
Stærk fremtidssikkerhed83/100
Strong future-proofing (83/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.
Upgrade path75
DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.
Expansion100
Expansion headroom: 1 PCIe slot(s), 2 M.2, 60 SATA, 0 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.
Storage growth90
Storage is 71% utilized with 0 free drive bay(s) and 60 free SATA port(s).
Memory growth75
2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 75% utilized.
Networking80
Networking is 2500 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.
Replacement ease90
ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.
Workload change70
No GPU, but there is room (1 PCIe slot(s), PSU headroom 4.5x) to add one for AI/transcoding.
Homelab Risk Score
Lav risiko10/100
Low risk (10/100) — sensible redundancy and headroom; no single point of failure is exposed.
low
Single point of failure
Storage has redundancy (mirror) — a single drive failure does not take the array down.Løsning: Continue a 3-2-1 backup strategy; redundancy is not a backup.
low
Storage risk
4 NAS-rated hard drive(s) — rated for 24/7 operation.Løsning: Keep drives cool and monitor SMART health.
low
Data loss risk
Redundancy protects against drive failure, though it is not a substitute for backups.Løsning: Follow a 3-2-1 backup rule: at least one copy off the box.
low
Power risk
PSU is 500W, peak load 110W (22%).Løsning: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.
low
Network risk
Single 2500 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 2500 Mbps.Løsning: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.
low
Expansion risk
1 PCIe, 2 M.2, 60 SATA, 0 bays free.Løsning: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.
low
Upgrade risk
2022 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Løsning: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.
Endelig build-audit
Audit passed (0 critical, 0 warning) — mostly optional and future considerations remain.

Valgfrit
Add a UPS
An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Handling: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power
Valgfrit
Keep a backup off-box
Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Handling: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage
Fremtid
RAM expansion available
2 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Handling: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory
Fremtid
PCIe slot available
1 free PCIe slot(s) for a NIC, HBA or GPU later.Handling: Use it for a 10G NIC, extra HBA, or an accelerator when the need appears.expansion
Hvad bliver grænsen
CPU is the next bottleneck is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.
1-2y
CPU is the next bottleneck
Hvorfor: The CPU runs at 100% of capacity — new services or more users will hit the wall first.Hvad du skal gøre: Consider a stronger CPU within the same socket generation while it is still cheap.
3-5y
Storage growing
Hvorfor: 71% of capacity in use — comfortable today, tighter over a few years.Hvad du skal gøre: Plan the growth curve; keep at least one bay free for the next drive.
Hvad der begrænser dig først
CPU is the closest to its limit (100% of capacity in use) — it will likely force the next upgrade.
