De ce această variantă
Alege-o dacă
Balances your priorities with a 991€ price tag and a 30W idle draw.
Ce sacrifică
- Not specialized: it does not push any single dimension (value, silence, expansion) to the extreme.
Cum au fost alese piesele
- Intel Core i5 14400F: 10 cores / 16 threads covers the 10 cores needed with headroom.
- Motherboard Intel B760 (LGA 1700): matches the CPU socket and case size.
- RAM: 32GB DDR5,DDR4 — meets the 32GB the workload requires.
De ce nu celelalte
- All variants are close; the winner matches your priorities best.

Scor viitor-proof
Viitor-proof puternic80/100
Strong future-proofing (80/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.
Upgrade path75
DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.
Expansion100
Expansion headroom: 3 PCIe slot(s), 5 M.2, 3 SATA, 1 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.
Storage growth70
Storage is 83% utilized with 1 free drive bay(s) and 3 free SATA port(s).
Memory growth75
2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 100% utilized.
Networking80
Networking is 2500 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.
Replacement ease90
ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.
Workload change70
No GPU, but there is room (3 PCIe slot(s), PSU headroom 9.5x) to add one for AI/transcoding.
Homelab Risk Score
Risc moderat41/100
Moderate risk (41/100) — a few items are worth fixing before you commit (see checklist).
high
Single point of failure
Storage has no redundancy (3 drives, no mirror/parity) — a single drive failure exposes the array.Soluție: Add at least a mirror (RAID 1/ZFS mirror) for irreplaceable data, or an additional parity drive for larger arrays.
medium
Storage risk
1 desktop hard drive(s) — not rated for 24/7 duty, vibration or heat; higher long-run failure risk.Soluție: For an always-on system, prefer NAS/CMR-rated drives; monitor SMART and replace before the warranty ends.
critical
Data loss risk
3 drive(s), no redundancy, hard-drive media — the worst combination for keeping data safe.Soluție: Add redundancy and an off-site/off-box backup for anything irreplaceable.
low
Power risk
PSU is 1000W, peak load 105W (11%).Soluție: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.
low
Network risk
Single 2500 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 2500 Mbps.Soluție: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.
low
Expansion risk
3 PCIe, 5 M.2, 3 SATA, 1 bays free.Soluție: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.
low
Upgrade risk
2024 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Soluție: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.
Audit final al build-ului
Audit found 0 critical and 1 warning item(s) worth fixing before you buy.

Avertisment
No storage redundancy
3 drive(s) with no mirror or parity for the data you plan to store.Acțiune: Add at least a mirror for irreplaceable data before you migrate anything.storage
Optimizare
Use NAS-rated drives
Desktop drives in an always-on NAS/server role have higher long-run failure rates.Acțiune: Prefer NAS/CMR-rated drives for 24/7 duty.storage
Opțional
Add a UPS
An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Acțiune: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power
Opțional
Keep a backup off-box
Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Acțiune: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage
Viitor
RAM expansion available
2 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Acțiune: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory

Drive bays remain
1 drive bay(s) free for future capacity.Acțiune: Expand capacity in pairs (mirror/parity) when needed.storage
Viitor
PCIe slot available
3 free PCIe slot(s) for a NIC, HBA or GPU later.Acțiune: Use it for a 10G NIC, extra HBA, or an accelerator when the need appears.expansion
Ce devine limită
RAM is tight is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.
1-2y
RAM is tight
De ce: Memory is 100% utilized — a growing workload will hit the ceiling quickly.Ce să faci: Add the remaining RAM before prices change, while slots are free.
1-2y
Storage nearly full
De ce: 83% of raw capacity is already in use — media libraries and backups grow fast.Ce să faci: Expanding is easy: add a drive to the free bays/ports.
1-2y
CPU is the next bottleneck
De ce: The CPU runs at 100% of capacity — new services or more users will hit the wall first.Ce să faci: Consider a stronger CPU within the same socket generation while it is still cheap.
Ce te limitează primul
RAM is the closest to its limit (100% of capacity in use) — it will likely force the next upgrade.
