Gesamt82

Zukunftssicherheits-Score

Starke Zukunftssicherheit

80/100

Strong future-proofing (80/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.

Upgrade path75

DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.

Expansion100

Expansion headroom: 3 PCIe slot(s), 6 M.2, 0 SATA, 3 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.

Storage growth70

Storage is 100% utilized with 3 free drive bay(s) and 0 free SATA port(s).

Memory growth75

2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 100% utilized.

Networking80

Networking is 2500 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.

Replacement ease90

ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.

Workload change70

No GPU, but there is room (3 PCIe slot(s), PSU headroom 3.5x) to add one for AI/transcoding.

Homelab-Risiko-Score

Geringes Risiko

10/100

Low risk (10/100) — sensible redundancy and headroom; no single point of failure is exposed.

low

Single point of failure

Storage has redundancy (mirror) — a single drive failure does not take the array down.Lösung: Continue a 3-2-1 backup strategy; redundancy is not a backup.

low

Storage risk

4 NAS-rated hard drive(s) — rated for 24/7 operation.Lösung: Keep drives cool and monitor SMART health.

low

Data loss risk

Redundancy protects against drive failure, though it is not a substitute for backups.Lösung: Follow a 3-2-1 backup rule: at least one copy off the box.

low

Power risk

PSU is 400W, peak load 115W (29%).Lösung: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.

low

Network risk

Single 2500 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 2500 Mbps.Lösung: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.

low

Expansion risk

3 PCIe, 6 M.2, 0 SATA, 3 bays free.Lösung: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.

low

Upgrade risk

2024 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Lösung: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

Finaler Build-Audit

Audit found 4 critical and 1 warning item(s) worth fixing before you buy.

4 Kritisch1 Warnung2 Optional3 Zukunft

Kritisch

Check the balance

Requested maxNoise=silent but case Cooler Master Force 500 ATX Mid Tower Black is "standard" — silent option unavailable, falling back.Aktion: Reconsider the config for the stated workload or budget before buying.balance

Kritisch

Check the balance

Total (1517€) exceeds your budget (1200€) by 317€ (26%). Ranking already prefers in-budget variants — this one is shown for comparison; check the value variant or raise the budget.Aktion: Reconsider the config for the stated workload or budget before buying.balance

Kritisch

Check the balance

This build may struggle with the stated workload.Aktion: Reconsider the config for the stated workload or budget before buying.balance

Kritisch

RAM is nearly exhausted

The workload needs 100% of available RAM — swapping will hurt.Aktion: Add more RAM now, while slots are still free.memory

Warnung

Transcoding without a GPU

The workload involves media transcoding but there is no GPU in the build.Aktion: Add a GPU with a hardware encoder (or use an iGPU with Quick Sync) for smooth transcoding.media

Optional

Add a UPS

An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Aktion: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power

Optional

Keep a backup off-box

Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Aktion: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage

Zukunft

RAM expansion available

2 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Aktion: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory

Zukunft

Drive bays remain

3 drive bay(s) free for future capacity.Aktion: Expand capacity in pairs (mirror/parity) when needed.storage

Zukunft

PCIe slot available

3 free PCIe slot(s) for a NIC, HBA or GPU later.Aktion: Use it for a 10G NIC, extra HBA, or an accelerator when the need appears.expansion

Was zum Limit wird

RAM is tight is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.

1-2y

RAM is tight

Warum: Memory is 100% utilized — a growing workload will hit the ceiling quickly. Was zu tun ist: Add the remaining RAM before prices change, while slots are free.

1-2y

Storage nearly full

Warum: 100% of raw capacity is already in use — media libraries and backups grow fast. Was zu tun ist: Expanding is easy: add a drive to the free bays/ports.
