Score de pérennité

Pérennité solide

79/100

Strong future-proofing (79/100) — this build should stay relevant for years without major surgery.

Upgrade path75

DIY build — the CPU, motherboard and PSU can each be upgraded independently without replacing the whole system.

Expansion100

Expansion headroom: 2 PCIe slot(s), 2 M.2, 58 SATA, 4 drive bay(s), 2 RAM slot(s) free.

Storage growth90

Storage is 71% utilized with 4 free drive bay(s) and 58 free SATA port(s).

Memory growth75

2 RAM slot(s) free; memory is 75% utilized.

Networking55

Networking is 1000 Mbps, and a free PCIe slot can add a faster NIC later.

Replacement ease90

ATX form factor with standard, socketed components — most parts are easy to replace.

Workload change70

No GPU (the iGPU handles transcoding), but there is room (2 PCIe slot(s), PSU headroom 5.4x) to add one for AI.

Score de risque homelab

Risque faible

13/100

Low risk (13/100) — sensible redundancy and headroom; no single point of failure is exposed.

low

Single point of failure

Storage has redundancy (parity2) — a single drive failure does not take the array down.Solution: Continue a 3-2-1 backup strategy; redundancy is not a backup.

low

Storage risk

6 NAS-rated hard drive(s) — rated for 24/7 operation.Solution: Keep drives cool and monitor SMART health.

low

Data loss risk

Redundancy protects against drive failure, though it is not a substitute for backups.Solution: Follow a 3-2-1 backup rule: at least one copy off the box.

low

Power risk

PSU is 650W, peak load 120W (18%).Solution: PSU sizing leaves healthy headroom for spikes and future parts.

medium

Network risk

Single 1000 Mbps NIC — a switch/port failure takes the box fully offline, and multi-user media can saturate 1000 Mbps.Solution: Consider a second NIC or a managed switch; for heavy media, plan for 2.5/10G before the build.

low

Expansion risk

2 PCIe, 2 M.2, 58 SATA, 4 bays free.Solution: Healthy room for future drives, NICs and accelerators.

low

Upgrade risk

2024 platform — current generation with a forward-looking socket/feature set.Solution: Buy for the workload, not the socket — upgrade paths are a bonus, not a guarantee.

Audit final du build

Audit passed (0 critical, 0 warning) — mostly optional and future considerations remain.

1 Optimisation2 Optionnel3 Futur

Optimisation

Plan faster networking

1G networking is fine today but will bottleneck multi-user media or big NAS transfers at 80TB.Action: Budget for a 2.5G/10G NIC and switch later, or spec it now.network

Optionnel

Add a UPS

An always-on server holding data should survive power blips.Action: Add a line-interactive UPS sized for the build's peak draw (≥ 10 min at typical load for a clean shutdown).power

Optionnel

Keep a backup off-box

Redundancy inside the box does not survive fire, theft or a whole-array fault.Action: Mirror the important data to an external drive, a second box, or cloud.storage

Futur

RAM expansion available

2 RAM slot(s) free for a later upgrade.Action: Leave them free until the workload actually grows.memory

Futur

Drive bays remain

4 drive bay(s) free for future capacity.Action: Expand capacity in pairs (mirror/parity) when needed.storage

Futur

PCIe slot available

2 free PCIe slot(s) for a NIC, HBA or GPU later.Action: Use it for a 10G NIC, extra HBA, or an accelerator when the need appears.expansion

Ce qui devient la limite

CPU is the next bottleneck is the most likely thing to date this build within 1-2y.

1-2y

CPU is the next bottleneck

Pourquoi: The CPU runs at 100% of capacity — new services or more users will hit the wall first.Que faire: Consider a stronger CPU within the same socket generation while it is still cheap.

3-5y

Storage growing

Pourquoi: 71% of capacity in use — comfortable today, tighter over a few years.Que faire: Plan the growth curve; keep at least one bay free for the next drive.

3-5y

1G networking becomes the ceiling

Pourquoi: A 1000 Mbps link will cap NAS transfers and multi-user media before the CPU or disks do.Que faire: Add a 2.5G/10G NIC when the switch investment makes sense.
